Ch: 1 - 3 - Allan
Chapter 1
At the beginning the narrator, Ellie, introduces the story. Then the story starts with the idea of the teenagers Ellie and Corrie planning a camping trip to Tailor's Stitch. Their parents have allowed them to do this. But in order for their satisfaction they must find other children to come with them. They call and meet some friends and find seven people to go with. They gather all the necessities they need for the trip like food and a car and head off.

Chapter 2
The seven teenagers leave with the Landrover and go to Tailor's Stitch.
When they get out of the car, they reorganise Fi's backpack taking out all the unwanted items and move into Hell.
They go down Satan's Steps.
On the way they speak about the legend of the Hermit and at the end of the chapter Robyn finds a bridge
crossing the creek.
Chapter 3
They decide to camp in the clearing and explore the environment. They do not build up their tents, because it’s warm and there is no chance of rain. After that they eat noodles, which are something new for Fi, and hit bed.
The group wake up around 10 or 11 o'clock and laze about for the day, at 6 o'clock Homer found a snake in his sleeping bag. He leapt out of it and ran about 20 metres away. There was a debate on what to do with the snake, Kein suggested that they try to drown it in the creek, they decide on having two people on the opposite end to the snake and they would tip it upside down so the snake would fall out and slither away in the opposite direction. Kevin and Robyn drop the sleeping bag and the angry snake comes rushing out, the group all went in seperate directions, Fi in the creek, Robyn, Kevin and Ellie just standing in the one spot, Lee up a tree and Homer nowhere to be seen. After they think the trouble is gone Ellie asks Fi why she was in the creek, Fi said it was to get away from the snake, she didnt know snakes could swim. Homer and Kevin cooked up a sausage surprise for dinner. During the night Ellie goes to the toilet and hears a distant humming, but suddenly it became a loud roar, Ellie sees a V- shape of Jets, in total there were six lines of jets that flew very low overhead. At breakfast they all discuss how many planes they heard, Lee and Robyn said hundreds and Ellie said six lots. Homer asks Ellie what he thinks of Fi, she is surprised that he asked her that because the oly women Homer likes are the ones in magazines.
Chapter 5 Pages 45-54
The group do a lot of lazing around, only Corrie and Ellie go out for walks, on one of the walks they talk about, boys, school and life. They decide that when they leave school, they are going to work for 6 months and then go overseas. There wasnt a lot of supplies left and no one could be bothered walking back to the Land Rover, so they were eating meals that they wouldnt even feed to their chooks. There was only one argument for the whole trip, it was Kevin yelling at Fi for not helping out with the washing up, Kevin was only angry because it was the day of the snake shemozzle and his Sausage surprise didnt get such a good response as he would of liked. Ellie was in a bit of a rush to get home, she felt a kind of strange anxiety. They hit the track at about 11 o'clock the next morning, it was a big trek back but there motivation was the thought of a shower and food. They eventually made it to the Land Rover, right in the place were they left it. As soon as they reached they pigged out on all the food and drank all of the water. It seemed as everyone got to the Landie the sense of urgency to get back was lost by everyone. After a couple of hours they decided to get going, as they got a better view of the plains they saw six seperate fires. They stopped at the river for a swim for an hour or so, Ellie chats to Lee about how she feels bad for missing the Show. Homer was acting like he was listening to Kein talk about something, but Ellie could tell he was watching Fi, she looked like a model doing a fashion shoot.
Chapter 6 Pages 55-68
Ellie reaches home and finds 4 out of 5 dogs are dead, her parents are'nt home, there wasnt any power to the house and no one has an explanation for it. They scan the radio to see if there are any stations on but find none. The group decide to go to Homer's house. At Homer's house the group was met with the same thing, no one home and no explanation for it. Homer's cow and budgie were alive but a bit shaken up, the group try to find someone on Homers, Rural Firefighting radio, but have no luck with that. They all agree to go to each others houses, to see what is happening. they figure out that mostly everyone went to the show and hadn't returned. Eventually they link the low flying aircraft, without lights, from the night in Hell, with the disappearances of Homer and Ellie's families. They think the worst and all have little cry, Robyn says "lets say we have been invaded, I think there is a big war."
Ch: 7 - 8 - Prakash Chapter seven: They wait until dark for safety and then move off to Kevin's place and things were the same with dead animals except for the pet corgi, no people and nothing except some bikes , which they take. They head to Corrie's and take the corgi with Kevin's understanding that it may have to go. Corrie's house is the same and she breaks down but Kevin holds her tight to calm her. Robyn makes them eat before heading to her place. Her house was closer to town and may cause them some problems. Before they leave, Ellie finds a message from Corrie's dad that warns them to go bush and take car. From this point on they move cautiously and head to Robyn's. Her house was the same as the others. Empty! From Robyn's they go up the hill as see the town's lights are out except for the Show ground. They decide to go to Fi and Lee's houses. Homer decides they need to split up and he and Fi will go to to her house, Robyn and Lee to his house and the rest to scout the Show ground. They all head off and Ellie describes how her thoughts wander on the way to the Show ground. She thinks of how she broke up with Steve and how her parents are coping. She thinks of how their lives have been isolated and safe,but happy. Corrie and Kevin wait for her and they decide tho scout the Show ground together.They stop at the edge of the light and begin to sneak closer. Ellie sees a group of soldiers. One of then is a woman. They see lots of tents and notice that the Show ground is still set up for the Show. Even the cars are still in the car park. Suddenly they are spotted and get shot at. They begin to run and try to get off the road. They head into Mrs Alexander's garden and find themselves trapped. Ellie has an escape plan and they turn a ride on mower into a bomb. Ellie lures the soldiers with a whimper. The bomb goes off and she hears the soldier's screams as Kevin drags her away. They see the local hardware truck carrying soldiers. They race to meet the others and find Homer and Fi with the bikes. Lee and Robyn are not there and they head out of town to Hell. Chapter 8
The ride back to Corrie's was difficult and Ellie is in a bit of shock over the events of the night. Inside Corrie's they get some cereal to eat and Ellie tells her story to Fi and Homer. She is amazed that she has killed three people. Her friends are very supportive and Homer says they are at war and "normal rules don't apply". Homer tells what he and Fi saw on their trip; spent shell, dried blood and smashed shops. They were held up for a while by soldiers and Homer put graffiti on the toilet walls to fill up time. The soldiers come into the lavatory and speak in a language that Homer and Fi did not comprehend. The soldiers are a bunch of young and old, men and women. Homer and Fi see some other people but the others run away when Fi calls to them. They reach Fi's house and find her cat but no people. ON the way back they see some very badly damaged houses before they hear shots coming from the Showground. They prepare to sleep and choose the shearing shed so that if the enemy come they can escape. Also, Ellie is now thinking that Homer is now a completely different person.
Ch: 9 - 10 - Scott
Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Nikhil: Chapter 11 (141 155) After the teenagers came together with Robyn and made the plan to rescue Lee, Ellie gets a garbage truck and drives to Lee's. There Robyn helps Lee into the shovel of the garbage truck to escape the soldiers from the showground as they were going to begin war. While they were escaping the noise of the bulldozer attracted two shooting jeeps which attack them. Ellie could not shake them off and Robyn did not want to murder anyone so Ellie dumped the garbage onto the enemies and one of the two cars crashed. Ellie then did a round about drive and dodged the car that they recently hit and the jeep behind them crash and the flames grew along the street. Ellie then quickly went to the church to meet up with Homer. When the come to the meeting point Homer was late because he did not know where the church was. When homer reached w he came with a station wagon, BMW. He gets out of the car quickly and helps Lee in and the other go with him. They end up going back to Chris Lang’s place because that was they best option to keep Lee from dyeing. When they reach they change cars to a Mercedes and they left to destroy the evidence of the BMW. So they end up at a creek where they sink the BMW in the water to hide the car for the soldiers. All the work the group did gave out a big noise of a cheer. This brought Chris out from his hiding place and he sits down with the others telling the others his story when the solider came to his house. Chapter 12 (156-165) After Chris’s story everyone was shocked so they all took rest but Chris decided to keep watch for the solders if they came by around the house. During the small nap Ellie has a dream about Lee she then wakes up in a startle she goes to Lee to check if he was ok. After the awkward moment Lee and Ellie kiss but Ellie got confused so she went downstairs to check on the others. She goes down of the kitchen to see Chris sleep on his duty and she get angry and upset. She points the gun towards him and he gets scared. A few second later everyone comes to see what happened and Ellie drops the gun and Chris runs away from the group avoiding his mistake. The next day they make plans and they go out to check to see any other solider roaming around. Later in the night they go also in Hell and Ellie crawls into a tent beside Corrie. She has nightmares about her future, but at the next morning she is feeling good and hungry. She talks to Corrie and she said Chris was very scared and he wants to say sorry to you. After breakfast she feels she could maybe start to cope again and they continue towards Hells steps.

Ch: 13 - 14 - Calum CHAPTER 13:
In this chapter Corrie is trying to find a radio signal but connot find one untill Ellie tells her that that the radio has world reception with ten bands and then they finally do get a singal which a gernal has said ... " warned America not to get invloved. The general said that America would find herslelf in the costliest and bloodiest war in her history if she tried to intervene. he said his forces have occupied several major coastal cities.
CHAPTER 14:
In this chapter everyone but Lee and Ellie and go into town to get some supplies. While every one was there Ellie and Lee started to have a "passionate" moment and talk about their "relationship". Ellie is still confused who she likes (Homer,Lee). She thinks Lee is pushing her into a relationship.
After she left the group, Ellie crawls into a cave and discovers the well-hidden, and unknown secret hideout of the hermit, some vegetation and some of his personal belongings such as a coroners repert of his family's death, and some old clothes.
Ch: 15 - 16 - Rylan
Chapter Fifteen:
Ellie Has just returned from inspecting the hermit's hut. Only Homer, Lee, Fi and Ellie are down in Hell and the others are out in the town. Ellie shows the rest of them the Hut and when they get back they keep on working untill the evening. Before they fall asleep Fi goes into Ellie's tent and they talk about Fi's relationship with Homer and Ellie talks about Lee. The next morning They collect more firewood and keep on working throughout the morning. After that Ellie takes Lee on a tour of the Hermitts Hut. They discover the small silver box that contained a notebook, letters, some newspaper clippings and a couple of official looking documents in it.
Chapter Sixteen: Ellie and Lee are still in the Hermitt's Hut, and are reading about the Hermit's life. They learn about how he had to kill his own family. After they finish they put all the items back and Lee puts it into it's place under the windowsill. On the way back to the clearing Ellie kisses Lee, and when they arrive back it is evident that something happened between Fi and Homer aswell. When it starts to get dark latter on in the evening Ellie, Homer and Fi walk back up Satans steps. When they get there the three of them find a new spot to hide the viechles and Ellie goes back down with some supplies, leaving Fi and Homer alone in the landy so they can wait for the other four. When she goes back to Hell she crawls into Lee's tent and sleeps next to him.
Ch: 17 - 19 - Anthony CHAPTER 17
Robyn, Corrie, Kevin and Chris return from Wirrawee really tired and after breakfast they tell the rest of the group what happened, that all their families were safe and the number of people they spoke to while in Wirrawee mostly Robyn talked. Chris wanted to know what the the others did in Hell while they were gone, then Homer said "we better get some sleep" then the went to bed. CHAPTER 18
The eight teenagers meet for a discussion on what they were going to do in the war, where they're gonna go next, what their plan is. The next night Homer, Fi, Lee and Ellie decide to go on the road from Cobblers bay because thats where they think all the fighting is going on. CHAPTER 19
